What the syllabus expects from you
- Analysing the writing prompt and given guideline notes before drafting
- Matching register/structure to the required genre (article/letter/speech/statement/review)
- Respecting the 80-120 word count band
- Drafting process: first draft → error-checking (grammar/spelling/connectors) → final version
The method
- Turn every guideline note into a developed sentence; never copy notes verbatim
- Re-read the final version once specifically for grammar (tense/agreement) and once for connectors
The common mistakes
- Off-topic response ignoring the guideline notes
- Word count far outside the 80-120 band
- Wrong register for the required genre (informal letter tone in a formal speech)
